|Oikosteges is a specialized and highly effective roof greening method designed especially for climates such as Greece. The approach has many advantages not only for the building itself but for the surrounding area where it is installed as well, solving many of the urban problems modern cities face. Oikosteges is the lightest roof greening approach in the world. It is adapted to hot climates where roof surface temperatures can reach 80C. The system can survive long periods of drought without irrigation. It can withstand hot winds of 45 C. It can also survive sub zero temperatures and snow. It has minimal needs of fertilizer input and is completely disease resistant.|
